Welsh Cakes booth was at both the Renaissance Pleasure Faire & the Scottish Fest. The booth at the Scottish Fest was so packed with a long line. I didn’t have the patience to stand in line. It was good to see them doing so well. The Welsh Baker is a family owned business, local. According to their website “liberties” with taste, flavors, fat and calories have been taken to adjust them to suit American taste buds. I can describe these are between a scone and American biscuit. I’ve had a taste of their the original plain, the currant cakes, and the funfetti.

The plain go really well with any jams. I favor the flavored ones, not too sweet. Each pack of cakes includes 4 pieces. Their website has seasonal varieties. However, I think the best deal is either purchased at a booth they are attending or order online. Buy a large batch to save on costs. Talking about these, now I want to heat up a pot of tea and grab some Welsh Cakes. Hmm, these would be good for afternoon tea.
