Rimmel Japan Chocolat Sweet Eyes Eyeshadows UPDATE 05.23.2024

Okay so this is way late, but Rimmel Japan’s Chcocolat Sweet Eyes Eyeshadows are discontinued and replaced with the new Wonder’Sweet Eyeshadows. My favorites are the old Chocolat 15 Strawberry and 19 Blueberry. Respectively, the new numbers are now 04 Strawberry Chocolate and 09 Milk Berry Chocolate. I did notice slight color changes right off the bat but haven’t had the pleasure of testing out on my skin. Also of note: I picked up 07 Peach Apricot as well as the Soft Matte 03 Raspberry Latte. Just by looking at the colors of the matte from the packaging there is shimmer, but not as much as the regular eyeshadows. Now on to the pictures below.

The frontal, you can see there is a size difference. The new compact is more square, it is easier to hold but I don’t find it as easy to pack into my on-the-go makeup bag. It’s no biggie though. I still like the new packaging, however, I have mixed feeling about the new packaging’s mirror on the back. I’ll be leaving the mirror sticker protector cuz I’m not planning on using the mirror and I want no scratches on it.

Next is a closeup of new and old of Strawberry and Blueberry/Milk Berry. You can see the slight difference in shades, but ever to slightly

Take a look at the Soft Matte 03 Raspberry Latte palette:

Now here are the new strawberry, milk berry, and peach together:

I’m not super satisfied with new packaging but I don’t really care too much about it. I just love my strawberry and milk berry/blueberry palettes, that I’m relieved they didn’t discontinue them flat out. I purchased these myself through Amazon JP for 1600 yen each (new Wonder Sweet).

Personal Color Analysis (PCA) with Amanda!

I finally got my PCA done today (May 2, 2017). I’ve been wanting to get this analysis done for years but never did. You know how in those fashion magazines makeup or clothing suggestions are given basis on your cool, warm, or neutral undertones? And when trying these suggestions out, it never seems to work out? Well that’s how it was for me! So I said forget it, let’s get this done professionally! Enter Amanda Roberts! She’s a PCA analyst. She lives in soCal which is where I’m live. I got in contact with her and had my booking.

Bookings take about 2.5hrs and are super educational. You get a color analysis for clothing, a talk about makeup and jewelry, and your own color fan geared towards your color season. There are 12 seasons that you can fall under. In the 12, there are 4 main seasons, winter, spring, summer, fall. And in between/blend of seasons like summer with a hint of spring.   We went through color drapings and I was a “true Winter”, aka winter-winter. Which also explains why I hardly wear orange and nearly have no orange clothing pieces. Orange is just not a color that goes well with me. Oh snaps! Well, I’m excited to go through my closet and see what’s true winter and not. I’ll have to keep my color fan with me when I go shopping, it’ll help me with colors that’ll look good on me 🙂

Overall, I very please with the process, results and Amanda’s work. I’m glad I got the PCA done. I highly recommend anyone to get the color analysis done. (Note: $280 for session, she takes both cash and cc) (Amanda’s website)

Update (11/6/2017): Since going through my closet, I’ve noticed I actually have a lot, and I mean a lot of colors that fall into my “True Winter” color category. Some how through the years I’ve instinctively been drawn to those colors. Ironic, really. And I’m still really glad to have gone through the appointment with Amanda too! It solidified my clothing confidence and plus I’ve been capsule wardrob-ing for almost 2 years now, its been even easier now.

J. Crew Icon Trench vs City Trench 2016 styles

I was searching for a trench that works for me, and I decided on J. Crew. Who doesn’t like J.Crew outerwear?

Here is some information about me and JCrew sizing. I’m JCrew size 00 for dresses, XS-S for sweaters, S for an late 90’s – early 2000’s JCrew Pea Coat, 0 for JCrew Factory 2015 coat. I’m 5’6″, 105lb. I’ve got straight shoulders and hate shoulder padding of any kind, light or otherwise. My body type can be described as straight.

Needless to say, I was up in the air for either the Icon or the City trench coats.  I purchased both to try them at home and here’s what I learned about the two coats.

ICON Trench ($208, with coupon)

I bought a size 2, after reading JCrew reviews online. And it’s still tight in the shoulders. I can wear a light cardigan under it. The material is 100% cotton, made in Phillipines, a true khaki color. I think the color is more cold. The cleaning tag suggests “Dry Clean”. The cotton is thicker and stiffer.

CITY Trench ($110, with coupon)

I bought a size 0, also after reading reviews. The size 0 is a good fit, and I can wear a sweater under it. The material is 100% cotton as well, made in China, “nut brown” color. I think the color is more warm, reminds me of a classic German Shepherd brown “red”. The cleaning tag says Machine Wash. The cotton is softer and I can fold the sleeves easily.

Details of Differences Between the Two Trenches: The City trench is 1-2 inches longer than the Icon trench. If you see in the pictures the over shoulder panel is opposite sides. This might affect you if you have a shoulder bag. The back lower vent is different. The City has an actual vent. The Icon has not actual vent and its held by a button. The backs are different too, there is a button holding down the back for the Icon. And the Icon’s lining was boring, satin polyester, and the City has a fun striped navy and white lining. Though the City does have a chain for hanging and a lot of stitching details. There is a removable piece at the cuff on the neck of the City, button removable.

Results:  For my skin tone the Nut Brown of the City Trench looks better. The cotton was softer and easier to fold, and for my styling purposes I wanted that. The shoulder fit was important for me. Even as a size 2, the Icon was still tight in the shoulders. The waist was good, so sizing up to 4 would have made the waist too wide. As for the price, it was  $100 dollar difference.

I decided to keep the City Trench over the Icon due to the fabric, color, overall fit, and price. I’m excited for the weather to be right for this Autumn and the follow Spring. Now I just need to return that Icon trench…hmm where is the nearest physical store?
