Finding the right size and right feel for making a shadowbox is a bit difficult.
I ended up settling for a 12×16 after fiddling with a 11×14 frame. The 12×16 from is from Hobby Lobby, which has more to choose from than Michael’s and Arron Bros. I used a 4×6 main photo, and several wallet sized photos. I had alphabet letters I saved from Knott’s Berry Farm to spell out her name, blue glitter flowers from Michael’s, and some thick double sided mounting stickers from Hobby Lobby. I use rubber stamps for embossing and cut-out for a 3-d effect. The look and feel was to reflect what Eclair’s personality was like. I put a little glass jar with her puppy tooth, a bag of her large adult whiskers I found lying around, her favorite toy, her paw print, and the collar she worn on her last few days with me. All sentimental pieces.
She was a honey fiend, always sneaking licks of honey when I worked on my bee hives or collected honey. Thus the embossed honeybee.
The glittery blue flowers represent bubbles, she loved to chase and pop bubbles.
She passed just after a month of being diagnosed with cancer, thus the “brave soul” stamp cut-out.
I also saved a little room to put her memorial stone pendant, when it comes in. The memorial stone is made from her ashes. It would either be worn by me or placed into the shadowbox by the quote.
XOXO Eclair, I missing you everyday.(03/2017)
