Tatcha skincare line review

Pretty presentation

So I finally made the leap into getting the whole set of Tatcha normal/combo skin care. Their products are on the heftier side, ranging $48-150. I had gotten the travel set as a test to see if I really wanted to buy the whole bottles of any of their products. I mean with a high price tag, you got to love it or not even buy it. What initially brought Tatcha to my attention was naturally a magazine highlight but only on their lovely blotting papers. As it turns out, aside from their blotting papers, their skin care line also appealed to me. I mean there are no parabens, mineral oil, DEAs, sulfates, urea, and fragrances in their products!

Okay so I’m one of those gals that spends up to an hour standing in the skin care and shampoo aisle comparing ingredients until I find a product I like then I’ll buy it. And I’m a totally stickler for having no DEAs and sulfate derivatives in my beauty products. Blame my education (thank you Pepperdine for that biochemistry degree) and my fascination in reading science/health articles and journals. And Tatcha products don’t have any of that cancer causing stuff.

Aside from the attraction of a well made skin care formulation, I was impressed with my skin’s results. I’ve been using Tatcha for several weeks now and I’ve noticed a difference in my sun spots. Yes, I’ll say it, “I am 30 years old and I have age spots”. It’s not much comparatively but I notice them. I had tried Clinique’s Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector, but the product started to smell funny and results were lukewarm at best. It’s been 3 weeks now and I’ve noticed with Tatcha’s Deep Brightening Serum, the spots are lighter.

Also included in the whole set is One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil, Classic Rice Enzyme Powder, and Moisture Rich Silk Cream. I don’t wear makeup enough to use the cleansing oil on a regular basis but when I do, it takes off all my makeup and it doesn’t irritate my eyes. I was hesitant at first when I heard cleansing “oil”. I thought oils weren’t meant to clean. But nevertheless, I do like the stuff and am using it now. The enzyme powder is like a light soapy exfoliant. I’ve tried the “gentle” version for more dry skin and the “deep” version for more oily skin. And I think I’d end up getting the “deep” for nighttime use just to deep clean the day off and use the “classic” for day and drier colder seasons. The silk cream…that cream makes me love rubbing my cheeks. They feel silky and I love it! I can’t sing enough praises for the cream!

I ended up receiving free samples of the new Revitalizing Eye Cream and Enriching Renewal Cream. (FYI: You get free samples when you purchase from Tatcha) I haven’t tried the eye cream, so I can’t write about it. I have tried the renewal cream. I love this stuff too! I’m also considering getting a full jar of this for nighttime and dry/cold season. It’s so much richer. I tend to need something richer in the cold months and something lighter in the warmer months. Ah, the joys of combination skin.

OVERALL: I’m a total fan of Tatcha, not to mention their package presentation when I opened the box. Wow, sweet! If ingredients are as important to you as it is to me then get the Travel set just to try them out.
